Final Project for Comp Anim: Dialogue. I animated this in Krita! The sound is a snippet from Car Seat Headrest's song Homes . These particular lyrics resonate with me as I feel like I always manage to slip by just barely in life, just barely evading devasting blows. One of these days, I'm not going to be able to just slip by, and its gonna hurt when I get what's coming to me. Anyways, this was actually really fun to animate since I like the song and the little character I created. I had a lot of fun. It could use some refinement and in-betweens, but I like it quite a bit.
This is my last Assignment for Comp Anim, Assignment 7: Puppet. After this, we only have the Dialogue Project left. For this assignment, I had to use Toon Boom Harmony, as Krita doesn't have access to rigging tools, or any puppet tools at all. It was interesting designing and rigging my own puppet in 2D. I have a little familiarity with rigging models in Maya in 3D, so this was a little reminiscent of that, however it was a totally different process that came with its own frustrations. My puppet and its action are very simple, partly because Toon Boom kept crashing on my computer. It would also crash when I tried to export it as a video, so I had to export it as images and compile it through Premiere. Because I was already putting it through Premiere and the animation was pretty simple, I decided to spice it up a little by adding some sound effects to the animation.
This was my second project for Comp Anim: Walk Cycle! This character is pretty simple, and the walk cycle animation is a little choppy, but overall I'm happy with it. This animation was also done in Krita, and you can't have a panning camera or long background like you can in Toon Boom, so this was a learning experience figuring out how to time the background with the character to make it the pace of his walk cycle match the speed at which the background was moving. I used the cactus to measure and convey this speed/pace, which proved difficult than you might think when working in a software with such basic animating tools.
This is my first project in Comp Anim, Weight! We are finally moving away from assignments and simple exercises. This animation I also did in Krita, as I wanted to try out the software more, especially considering it's a free, open source program. Considering Krita's rather simple frame-by-frame animation tools, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It probably took me longer to do in Krita than it would've to do in Toon Boom but I'm glad to have had the experience doing it in Krita, even if it was painful at times.
This is my Head Turn assignment for Comp Anim. This was interesting to complete, as I didn't animate in Toon Boom Harmony this time. For this animation, I used Krita, an open-source digital art software, similar to Photoshop. The animation tools were a little bit limited compared to Toon Boom, and it was my first time animating in Krita, but I'm happy with it over all, and think it turned out okay, all things considered. (Did you catch the pun? aha )
This was my Pantomime assignment for Comp Anim. Here, I animated my flour sack character that I created in the Gesture Sheet. I decided against the stabbing idea and instead went for a plane flying close by overhead, startling the Flour Sack.

This was a sheet of gesture drawings for my flour sack character in Comp Anim. It's a little rough but it conveys the emotions I intended it to!
This was my second exercise in Comp Anim. In this exercise, we were supposed to demonstrate overlapping action. The animation is a bit choppy in this one and it could use some in-betweens but it was to animate nonetheless!
This is my Bouncing Ball exercise from Comp Anim. This was my first time animating on Toon Boom Harmony. It was interesting learning how to use a new software, especially since it is so different from Adobe products, which is what I'm used to.
